The Ames Performance, Tri-Power Pontiac Nationals is home to the largest Pontiac Swap Meet and Drag race in the country! This is the Pontiac Event of the Year that you do not want to miss!

Pontiac lives on in the minds and hearts of millions of Pontiac lovers who refuse to give up that certain devil may care life style that follows them wherever they go. It’s not just a car, it’s a Pontiac and the one of your dreams will magically appear right before your eyes at this coming year’s 28thAnniversary Celebration of the Tri-Power Pontiac Nationals August 2 - 4, 2019 at the stunning Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The Ames Performance Tri-Powered Pontiac Nationals is the largest Pontiac event in the country and will showcase more Pontiacs in one place than ever before!
This event will feature:

     *  Swap Meet- This is the largest Pontiac Swap Meet in the Country!  Every year the vendor area is sold out!

Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick has been ‘wowing’ Pontiac fans for over 60 years. He will be at Summit Motorsports Park during the Ames Performance Tri-Powered Pontiac Nationals to help celebrate its 28thanniversary. “The Farmer” will be signing autographs on Saturday and Sunday. So, don’t forget your cameras or your Pontiac memorabilia!

The Nostalgia Super Stocks will also be in attendance at this year's show.

Calling All Pontiac Bodied and/or Powered Race Vehicles!

Drag Racing at the Ames Performance Tri-Power Pontiac Nationals happens all weekend starting with the Test & Tune Friday.  Two bonus races, “M&K Sports Coach” Box and “Ram Air Restoration” No Box will also be contested and it only costs $20 (racers must first purchase a $70 weekend drag racing entry to participate in the bonus races.) 

Payout for both Box/No Box Bonus Races:  Winner $500; Runner-Up $250; Semi’s $100 and Quarters $50.

If you like to bracket race, we’ve got a class for you, all you need to bring is a vehicle that is either Pontiac Body and/or powered by Pontiac!  GMC’s can complete also.  Dragsters must have traditional Pontiac engines and not CORPORATE MOTORS!  The Main Event will run to completion on Saturday and again on Sunday.   Class winners from both days will run-off at the end of the event on Sunday to see who will become this year’s 1A Auto Parts “Chief of the Pontiacs”.  The “Chief” will receive an additional $500 and a custom leather jacket.  Runner-up takes home a cool $250!

Got a door car that goes fast and you’re not into bracket racing?  No problem!  Butler Performance and Big 3 Racing will be sponsoring two Heads-Up classes.  These two classes will feature some of the fastest Pontiacs being built today!

GENERAL RACE RULES

  • NHRA bracket rules apply
  • All cars must pass tech inspection
  • Seat belts, helmets, fire extinguishers are recommended where not required by NHRA bracket race rules.
  • Show cars making time trial passes must comply also.
  • Non Pontiac Bodies & Dragsters must have a traditional Pontiac engine.
  • A fixed mechanical throttle stop, that cannot be adjusted or overridden, while the car is in motion, is allowed in all classes except street.
  • Note: TruSTART will utilized in ALL CLASSES!

NEW:  BIG 3 RACING Late-Model Heads-Up
will feature small-tire late-model Pontiac and GMC race vehicles.

KAUFFMAN RACING EQUIPMENT QUICK 16
The Quick 16 race class, sponsored by Kauffman Racing Equipment, is the premier event for Traditional engine Pontiacs.  We have the fastest Quick 16 field for Pontiacs!

Additional $10.00 car & driver entry (First, must purchase a $70 racer entry into the main event at the gate).  To purchase C&D entry for Kauffman Quick 16 show racer entry run card at Guest Services (Budweiser Side of track.)

Rules & Info:

  • Traditional Pontiac V-8 only!
  • Any Head, 4.620" bore center
  • Super Pro Rules apply
  • Everything else goes – Blowers, NOS, Turbo’s and Nitro!
  • Qualifiers must run within one tenth (.1) of their qualifying pass

Payout:  Winner $1000; Runner-Up $500, Semi’s $200, Quarters $100 and 1st round $50 (All 16 places paid)

Qualifying – two rounds Sat and the 3rd (final) round will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m.  

Kauffman Quick 16 entries can race in a regular bracket class on Saturday.  If qualify for the Sunday race, Quick 16 entries can NOT compete in the Sunday bracket class, only non Quick 16 qualifiers. KRE Quick 16 winner does not participate in the “Chief of the Pontiacs” final on Sunday.

BUTLER PERFORMANCE FRANTIC FOUR
THE FRANTIC FOUR RACE CLASS, SPONSORED BY BUTLER PERFORMANCE, showcases some of the fastest Pontiacs being built today!

Additional $25.00 car & driver entry  (First, must purchase a racer $70 entry into the main event at the gate)  To purchase C&D entry for Butler Performance Frantic Four show race entry run card at Guest Services (Budweiser Side of track.)

Qualifying – 1 round on Friday, two rounds on Saturday.  Eliminations held Saturday afternoon.

Frantic Four entrants are permitted to participate in the Friday Test & Tune and will come up when your class is called.  First call will be a time trial and the second call will be your first qualifying pass.  (Note:  Frantic Four runs are not applicable for KRE Quick 16Frantic Four participants may run in Sunday’s bracket program.  Frantic Four winner does not participate in the “Chief of the Pontiacs” final on Sunday.

Showers:  Permanent showers are located on the Budweiser side of the track.  Shower tickets are $4.00 each.

    *  Saturday: truck may make a pass if warranted

Kurtzman Sanitation:  Will be on-site offering motorhome pumping services.  Please pay Kurtzman directly for their services. Cleanings Saturday 6:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.; Sunday 6:00 a.m.

Firewood:  Will be available beginning Thursday night.  Please pay vendor directly for services.
