Saturday Update of the Quick Fuel Technology Halloween Classic

Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, an astronaut, dinosaurs, Bat Woman, Jamican Bull Riders, zombies, taco bell sauces were just a few characters that showed up to Summit Motorsports Park to be part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Quick Fuel Technology Halloween Classic presented by Harland Sharp.

One round of eliminations were completed in all four classes and the field was set for the Graphic Inc Signs Top Gun shootout.  Due to a late shower, the Trick Flow Classic Air show has been moved to Sunday and will take place around the noon hour.

Immediately following the first round of eliminations, a special presentation of all former Grand Champions took place on the starting line.  There were 23 past champions in attendance this weekend for this race.  All Champions present received a commemorative jacket with their name and year won.  Afterwards they raced for a $500 Summit Racing Equipment gift certificate.

Rick Cornell from Monroe MI came out of racing retirement to participate in this special race.  And he had to borrow his son’s racecar to do so.  Cornell went head to head with some tough racers, such as Kevin Adams, Wayne Baker before meeting Joe Oswald in the final.  He was tardy on the tree, but was able to over come tardiness by running dead on his dial-in with a five (5.535).

While this was taking place, the Croghan Colonial Bank Kid’s costume contest presented by Kelleys island Venture Resort was taking place, as well as the Best Decorated Rigs and Pit areas.  Results will be posted as soon as they become available.

Racing will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
