NORWALK, OhioAccel Sportsman delivered on time by TFC Transportation driver Nick Hastings won the 2012 Super 64 runoff on Saturday, May 25, 2013, since the finale of the Mr. Gasket $50,000 Super Series rained out at the Halloween Classic in October at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Now Nick Hastings, 26, Shelby, Ohio owns a Vintage Trailers Crystal SS racing trailer which matches a Vintage Trailer that his racing partner, James Ring, Sandusky, Ohio, won in the 2011 Super 64.

“It feels great,” Nick Hastings said. “A lot of effort goes into this. Family and friends are a big part of this. I couldn’t do it without them.”

Motioning toward other racers mashing gas on the racetrack and watching from the staging lanes, Nick Hastings said, “They’re all like a big family.”

“I’d especially like to thank my grandparents, John and JoAnn Hastings, my beautiful girlfriend, Amber Mansfield, my good friend Jim Ring, and my parents for supporting me and my racing, Melissa and Doug McCandlish from Westerville, Ohio.”

“This year we started out with a Ten Grander in Coastal Plains, North Carolina,” Nick Hastings said. “And I got first and second in a Five Grander in Mississippi. They allowed me to double enter. And we closed out last year with a Ten Grand, two fives and a three. It’s been good.”

Nick Hastings began racing as a seven year old, cruised through Bear Motorsports Junior Dragster presented by Wiseco competitions, and lined up as an adult about seven years ago.

The 2012 Super 64 marked Nick Hastings’ third attempt at the elite race.

To be eligible for the Super 64, racers in the Mr. Gasket $53,100 Super Series sign up for the Finish Line Club, a season points competition at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio,

Four classes in the Mr. Gasket $53,100 Super Series are eligible for the Super 64 – Mallory Super Pro; Mr. Gasket Pro; Wiseco Cycle Tech Super Bike; and Accel Sportsman delivered on time by TFC Transportation. However, a racer must finish in the top 16 points earners in the class to compete in the Super 64.

Each class races to a class winner. Those four winners, called the Final Four, race each other to determine who first picks a prize.

And everyone who qualifies for the Super 64 receives a prize, ranging from $100 for appearing in the first round, to a winning pick of one of four $20,000 top prizes.

   •    Dart Machinery, one set of race series bare heads.
   •    Edelbrock, one “as is” carbureator manifold.
   •    Frank Hawley Drag Racing School, one super class school.
   •    Goodyear Tire and Rubber, one set of Goodyear Eagle rear slicks.
   •    Harlow Tire Racing, one pair Goodyear Eagle Front Runners.
   •    Lincoln Electric, one Pro 140 welder.
   •    Moser Engineering, one set of axles.

The other Elite 8 qualifiers, Rick Rick McWaters cruises through the water box.McWaters, Bucyrus, Ohio, Brian Cireddu, Brunswick, Ohio, and Pat Brumbaugh, Bellevue, Ohio, each won $500.

Other prizes in the Super 64 for eliminated drivers included:
   •    Round one, $100.
   •    Round two, $150.
