Blue Suede Cruise

Today there may be no more firsts but the memories are alive and well as Summit Motorsports Park. The Fonz, Cunninghams and Elvis are all gone but the cars and Doo-Wop live on.

You've gotta be here...July 14 - 16 2017!

The AkzoNobel “Blue Suede Cruise”, The Festival of FUN!

One weekend out of every race season, Summit Motorsports Park transitions back into time.  Thousands of candy colored hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trick trucks, etc. from the first generation of the automobile up to 1972 will congregate for an entire weekend for the opportunity to “show and tell” about their special rides.  Many will decorate their area with all the necessary accessories of the era and may even dress in period correct outfits just to get into the “spirit” of the weekend.  Enthusiast can stroll through the acres of show fields, to reminisce with the participants and maybe even bring home their ‘dream car’.

Registered participants will also have plenty of opportunities to race their ‘hot rods’ down the quarter mile to see if they are just as fast as they remember.  Fun runs will take place before and after the nostalgia drag racing all three days.  (Note times in the schedule)

More off-track activities have been scheduled which will appeal to all ages and genders, ‘Here it from the expert” seminars, a Vintage Fashion Show, an expanded ‘Woman’s World’, a Manufactures Mid-way including some of the major players in the industry, such as Summit Racing, AkzoNobel, Muscle Products and Trick Flow; The Van-Dells will perform Saturday night, to be announced, a flame throwing contest (details below) and of course Fireworks!  Even the door prizes will be even plusher than last year. In order to win one of those extravagant door prizes on Sunday…your attendance will be mandatory!

The largest, privately own collection of cars, trucks, motorcycles, buggies and more to be auctioned off during the AkzoNobel Blue Suede Cruise!

Local car collector Ron Hackenberger, has spent most of his life acquiring over 700 unique vehicles.  Everything from antique tractors (John Deere D, A, Farmall F-30) to vintage motorcycles (47 Indian Chief with sidecar, Harley Davidsons) to classic and very rare cars (rare 75 Dodge Big Horn semi, 45 Studebaker Army truck) and so much more!

Bidders will have the opportunity on Friday, July 14th to preview the collection and also visit with Ron and Eunice Hackenberger at Summit Motorsports Park.

Saturday, July 15th bidding will begin promptly at 9am at Summit Motorsports Park and online at

The remainder of the items, (collector trucks, cars, tractors and buggies), will be held on Sunday, July 16th at the Wolohans Lumber Yard in Norwalk, OH, On N HWY 250.

THE VAN-DELLS live on stage Saturday Night!
(in front of the Summit Grandstands)

The Van-Dells often called “The 3 Stooges set to music”, is comprised of Stacy “Duke” Todd (The no-nonsense tough guy); Mark Barnett (the comedian and nerd of the group) and Steve “Moose” Ricks (the loveable, educationally-challenged jock).  The group have entertained audiences with their unique blend of comedy, costume changes and music for 43-years!

The show begins at Van-Dell High and it is 1958.  The seniors are preparing for their graduation; which happens to be the last commencement ceremonies to ever take place at Van-Dell High.  The band dressed in letter sweaters will combine comedy and the great songs from the Rock and Roll era of the 50’s as they prepare for their senior year.

The band transforms right before the audience's eyes to another notable nostalgic period, this time it is the 1960’s, the “Glitter and Gold” period!

The Van-Dells appeal to all ages with a family show containing comedy and music that appeals to everyone! They are rated as the Nations… #1 Rock N’ Roll Review!

The concert takes place Saturday Night at 8:00 p.m. in front of the Summit Side Grandstands with the dragstrip in the background, setting the stage for the era.  The evening will conclude with a flame throwing contest, a neon parade of lights and of course the Signature Bader Fireworks!

There is so much going on this weekend, but there is an extra incentive stay through Sunday.  A special door prizes will take place following the special awards ceremony.  You must be present to claim the prize.

Ladies we have a place for you to hang out when you’ve walked around the park and seen everything you want to see.  Sharon & Vanessa’s Women’s World will have a variety of vendors, ranging from jewelry and cosmetics to home decor and health care products.  You should be able to find something you can’t resist.

Cruisers Social Hall is just that…a place to get out of the sun and hang out with your buddies, showing off your new purchases from Women’s World or talking about the car you saw that reminded you of your teenage years.  A number of activities will take place here and don't forget Vintage Fashion Show Saturday afternoon!

Everyone loves to win something!  We will be giving away door prizes all weekend.  But the elite prizes will not be given away until Sunday Morning and your attendance is mandatory to collect your prize!

We want to see to see FLAMES shooting across the drag strip during this year's flame throwing contest.  Therefore, we are "heating things up" a bit to make sure this happens.  Two categories will be judged, Injection and Non-Injection.  The winner in each category takes home $250 dollars!  Start practicing now!  We want to give away some cash!
