Johnny Camp considers the cockpit of his race car to be his second home.
In addition to spending a lot of time there, he feels comfortable and confident there.
As it turns out, he’s also very competitive there, as he has accomplished a lot and amassed many wins behind the wheel.
That was certainly true in 2022, as the Pro Mod racer from Pennsylvania proved to be quite powerful at R&R Auto Body/DeCerbo Construction Rumble Wars races at Summit Motorsports Park, and at PDRA and NMCA races across the country.
Just as capable was his 1969 Camaro-bodied Pro Mod built by Jerry Bickel Race Cars and beefed up by a ProLine-built raised-cam Hemi and a ProCharger.
Johnny, who co-owns Turnkey Foundations and Donaldson Supply near Pittsburg with his brother, pulled off several wins in R&R Auto Body/DeCerbo Construction Rumble Wars at Summit Motorsports Park in 2022, and his most memorable was at the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire in August. He referred to that as an exceptionally exciting experience, and he will never forget racing — winning — in front of a packed house at one of Summit Motorsports Park’s most popular events.
While he comes to the racetrack to win, he has also made it known that the friendships he forms among his fellow racers mean just as much to him.
Johnny — who has strong support from his friend Chuck Thomas, Brandon Stroud and Chris Johnson of ProLine, and the rest of his team — was welcomed to the stage as the 2022 the R&R Auto Body/DeCerbo Construction Rumble Wars champion at the Edelbrock Banquet of Champions presented by Lincoln Electric, Jan. 28, 2023 at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron, Ohio. There, he received hearty applause from his fellow racers and race fans.
