Excitement continues to escalate for the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire, which will have the stage on Aug. 6, 2022 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, and Joe Sylvester will be among the performers.
The Canfield, Ohio resident will strap into his Bad Habit Monster Truck and attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the first Monster Truck to record 101 mph.
“I’ve been coming to Summit Motorsports Park since I was a kid, so it’s an honor to be part of the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire and to be able to attempt to set a record in my truck there,” said Sylvester, who recently unveiled a new 2022 Jeep Gladiator body on his Monster Truck at Kufleitner Auto Group, in Boardman, Ohio.
Sylvester and his team built the tube chassis for his Monster Truck, and he relies on a methanol-sipping 555 cubic-inch Chevrolet engine by VZ Engines paired with a supercharger. A two-speed Powerglide by Abruzzi Racing Transmissions and Converters helps put the power down.
“My truck is meant to do wheelies and backflips and fly through the air,” said Sylvester. “It is not meant for high top-end speeds, but we will give it everything we have, and we will tune the combination to make 1,700 horsepower on the day of the record attempt, which is about 300 more horsepower than we usually tune for."
Sylvester, who will use custom slicks rather than his usual tires under his 13,000-pound Monster Truck at the Cornwell Tools Night Under Fire, is no stranger to amazing accomplishments, as he set a Guiness World Record for the longest jump in a Monster Truck, 237 feet, in 2013.
In addition to support from family, friends and fans, Sylvester has support from sponsors, including Lincoln Welders, SCS GEARBOX, Lyden Oil Company, Kufleitner Auto Group, Northern Chill Water, FK Rod Ends, VZ Engines, Abruzzi Transmissions, Rock Krawler Suspension, Redline Oil, Ripped Vinyl, Pyrotect, Black Flys Eyewear, High Octane Coffee, Hostile Wheels, Ytown Powder Coating, System 1, Axcel Sports, NGK Spark Plugs, SKVI Mahle and Clevite.
“We are confident we can do this,” said Sylvester, who will also have a ride-a-long truck, a Ford Super Duty nicknamed Mayhem, for fans. “We are excited.”
