From the desk of Bill Bader, Jr. — A Response to the Aug. 15 TransTec Halloween Classic LI presented by Harland Sharp Post:

I understand there is some unhappiness about the changes to the Wednesday format of Halloween Classic LI.

The reality of the situation is that we cannot time trial and eliminate 800-900 cars in one day. With moderate breakage and perfect conditions, it’s a sixteen-plus hour day. Additionally, we aren’t running the Halloween Classic in summer-like conditions, we’re racing in October when we expect challenging to poor conditions and above average breakage. Anyone remember the challenges we faced on Classic Warmup Sunday last year? Or the weekend of the main event?

We have built our brand on being sensitive to all our racers not just a select few of them. With ideally two time trials on Saturday, plus first round on Sunday, 100% of racers in attendance will have made three runs (with three hits at the tree) going into the Wednesday Gambler’s Races.

That said, for this year on Halloween Classic Wednesday, we will offer an ALL-RUN format with no time trial. The entry fee for both races will remain at $50 with an increased payout due to the additional participation. I will measure the outcome and make any necessary changes for 2025. I’ve heard you!
