Before we’re back to checking out cool and collectible cars at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, we can check them out at various museums, and among them is the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan.
The museum, which was closed for three months because of the Coronavirus crisis, was able to reopen recently with reduced capacity guidelines in place. It’s located a little over two hours west of Detroit, and a little over three hours northwest of Norwalk, and it’s worth the drive, as it features nearly 400 classic cars and motorcycles displayed in front of clever backdrops in several buildings on a 90 acre campus.
Many are reminiscent of those that dash down track during Edelbrock Super Series events at Summit Motorsports Park, or shine in the spotlight at the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Blue Suede Cruise presented by ScottRods Custom Hot Rods and Fiberglass, among other events, at Summit Motorsports Park. Here are some photos from our visit. For information about the museum, call 269-671-5089 or visit www.gilmorecarmuseum.org. - Photos and words by Mary Lendzion
