- Thursday 14 August, 2014
Cars with naturally-aspirated, turbo, blower and nitrous combinations running fives and other elapsed-times will cover the coveted track surface at Summit Motorsports Park for the 8th Annual JE Pistons NMCA Muscle Car Nationals featuring the Chevrolet Performance LSX Challenge and the Ford Racing Cobra Jet Showdown presented by Diversified Products Marketing, August 21-24, 2014.
The list of available classes is long, and includes Kooks Pro Mod, Mickey Thompson Radial Wars, ARP Nitrous Pro Street, Edelbrock Xtreme Street, NMCA NA 10.5, Stainless Works Street Outlaw, ATI Nostalgia Super Stock, Detroit Truetrac Nostalgia Muscle Car, MagnaFuel Open Comp, JE Pistons LSX Drag Radial, ERL Performance LSX All Motor, Holley Performance LSX Real Street, Proform Racing LSX Index Rumble, Gear Vendors True Street and FSC magazine Bracket Showdown. As an added incentive, NHRA Unleashed trophies, courtesy of Aerospace Components, will be awarded to each points-class winner, and this is the only racing series where competitors can earn a Wally trophy outside of an NHRA event.
The action is not limited to the track surface, as smoke will billow from the wheelwells of cars or trucks spinning their rear tires non-stop for a burnout contest, and a manufacturers' midway and swap-meet will be set up not far from where fans can get a pound of ice-cream for a dollar - a tradition at Summit Motorsports Park - as well as other snacks and meals.
Prefer show rather than go? The Flowmaster Car Show boasts cars and trucks of various model years, with more than fifty awards presented on both Saturday and Sunday.
"There is definitely a lot going on at this year's NMCA Muscle Car Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park, with the regular classes in addition to the Chevrolet Performance LSX Challenge and the Ford Racing Cobra Jet Showdown," said Bill Bader, Jr., president of Summit Motorsports Park. "Several records were set here at last year's event, and we're looking forward to another great event."
