Chevrolet Performance LSX454R Engine to Power McIlvain Race Cars Dragster for Summit Motorsports Park’s Super 64 Program

In a cutting-edge pairing, a Chevrolet Performance LSX454R crate engine packing 770 horsepower is to provide the motivation for the McIlvain Race Cars swing-arm mono-shock dragster to be awarded to this year’s Summit Motorsports Park McIlvain Race Cars Super 64 winner.
According to Chevrolet Performance officials, the LSX454R is the most powerful crate engine offered by the company and compliments high-revving race-cars with its high-compression, solid-roller setup and LSX DR 11-degree six-bolt aluminum cylinder heads with raised ports that crave maximum airflow. On top are an open-plenum intake and Dominator-style carburetor and on the bottom is the LSX Bowtie block packed with a forged rotating assembly.
The McIlvain Race Cars swing-arm mono-shock dragster will feature MSD ignition, a Race Pak replay dash, Abruzzi Racing Transmissions transmission and converter, AFCO radiator, shock and spring and a Moser rear-end assembly. Aesthetic Finishers will powder-coat the chassis and R&R Auto Body will lay the paint on the Riggeal’s Performance Fiberglass body.
The program, in its fourth season, receives additional generous support from RJS, Carl White of White Safety Equipment, Accel Performance Group, B&M, DRE Engine Diapers, Mickey Thompson, Moroso, PDI, Quick Fuel Technology, Russell Performance Products, Stainless Works, Summit Racing Equipment and Trick Flow Specialties.
Super Pro, Pro, Super Bike and Sportsman drivers will compete for the $75,000 in prizes and cash at the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Tires on Oct. 3-5, 2014 or, should weather force a postponement, the Quick Fuel Technologies Halloween Classic presented by Harland Sharp on Oct. 19-26, 2014. The winner of each bracket advances to the final four, with the ultimate winner earning the Chevrolet Performance LSX454R-powered McIlvain Race Cars swing-arm mono-shock dragster.
