Go from grandstand fan to racing your mini van at the same track as John Force!
NORWALK, Ohio – About 50,000 of us can't get enough of Nitrous.
Short of quitting our jobs and signing on as Top Fuel road crews for the National Hot Rod Association Western Swing, we could whittle down the intensity of withdrawals by climbing out of our grandstand seats and racing our daily drivers at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Not many bona fide grocery getters line up in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.
Mello Yello Drag Racing Series? Umm, no.
But everything from a V.W. bus, a teen's first street wheels, a work truck, and a motorcycle to a Super Stock race car mash the gas for win lights and medals at Mickey Thompson $7 Fun Night at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
We created classes for you: High School, Truck and Van, Motorcycle, Stock, Mod Stock and Super Stock.
And you don't need the fastest wheels on the planet, either.
In bracket racing, you guess how fast your ride cruises the quarter mile, write that on your windshield and window as a dial in, then go as close to your dial as you can without going faster.
We've seen elapsed times of 29 seconds, so if this is your first race, relax and enjoy it!
If by chance you forget your white window marker, we sell those at the Quarter Mile Clothing Company, too. While you're there, check out the great clothes and gifts celebrating the 2013 Golden Anniversary of Summit Motorsports Park. Any hard-to-buy-for people on your list? Gift certificates, solved!
Mickey Thompson $7 Fun Night swings the gates wide at 5 p.m. to new racers, old racers, classic car collectors, Junior Dragster drivers and even Funny Car teams who test and tune. Anyone can put their foot down and burn the carbon out. We never know until the sweet wheels show up!
Bring friends. It's $7 to race or watch. For children ages 6-12, $3 to watch or ride with you down the track Children five and younger, admitted free.
John Force, Tony Schumacher, Leah Pruitt, Jason Line, Hector Arana, Cassie Simonton and you race on the same quarter mile. Get an E.T. slip as evidence. Share photos on Facebook.com.
Time trials begin at 5:30 p.m. Eliminations, 8:30 p.m.
By the way, if anyone is interested in an informal support group for Nitrous addiction, come to Mickey Thompson $7 Fun Night. Just kidding. But we'll all be hanging out in the staging lanes, talking track, cooling our engines, lining up at the tree, enjoying the racing butterflies and win lights.
Two other opportunities exist for new racers at Summit Motorsports Park: VP Racing Fuels Test N' Tune on Friday evenings; and the Lakewood Stock class in the Mr. Gasket $53,100 Super Series on Saturdays.

Some of you Mickey Thompson $7 Fun Night racers may want to take your ride to another level. Summit Racing Equipment sells Power Building Videos on DVDs on many topics: Heads, Porting, Valve Train, Rotating Assemblies, Carburetors, Nitrous Oxide, and Super Chargers. Here's an idea: Create a Facebook.com group and invite your friends to meet you at Summit Motorsports Park. During Wednesday time trials and Friday Test N' Tunes, we'll allow you to line up against each other.
