Nick Hastings tames a wild white Mustang and corrals a duo of event wins on the same day.
NORWALK, Ohio – A white 1983 Mustang emerged as a work horse of a race car lassoing 13 win lights in two events on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Nick Hastings, 26, Shelby, Ohio spurred his ride to victory in the 2012 Super 64 and the Accel Sportsman delivered on time by TFC Transportation class in the Mr. Gasket $53,100 Super Series.
In the final round in Accel Sportsman delivered on time by TFC Transportation, Nick Hastings fended off a hard charge by Len Searl, Norwalk, Ohio in a 1998 Camaro.
Behind at the tree, Searl poured on the power but couldn't make up the difference by the finish line, especially since Hastings crossed on his dial with a six; Searl broke out.
Mallory Super Pro treated fans to a hard nosed drag race in the final round, with Scott Sill, Madison, Ohio piloting his 1999 Advanced dragster to a win by a total of 0.018 seconds over Randy Scheuer Jr., Northwood, Ohio in a 2007 American.
The spread at the launch of .016 seconds could not be made up by Scheuer, who crossed the stripe at the top end on his dial with an eight. But Sill crossed on his dial with a six, leaving no time for chit chat.
The Mr. Gasket Pro final round lifted Wes Buckley, Rossford, Ohio to the top of a Camaro-Mustang matchup with Bart the professor Welte, Findlay, Ohio.
Wes Buckley's 1984 Camaro launched in 0.021 seconds and negotiated the track in 10.230 seconds compared with a 10.20 dial.
Meanwhile, Bart Welte and his bright yellow 1980 Mustang followed in 0.026 seconds and left 0.067 seconds on the clock after his dial.
In Wiseco/Cycle Tech Super Bike, Rick Poole, Akron, Ohio claimed the final round at the tree and landed the win on his dial with a seven, forcing a breakout in self defense by Don Stokes, Republic, Ohio.
Last year's class champion, Rick Poole dominates the points standings in Wiseco/Cycle Tech Super Bike, winning two events and claiming runner up in a third race this season.
Lakewood Stock happenings prove the racing blood trickled down through three generations of Pooles, from Rick's dad, Chuck Poole, who wowed crowds for decades with the Chuck Wagon Wheelstander, to Rick's son, Austin Poole, Mansfield, Ohio.
Jame Deem, Lorain, Ohio steered his motorcycle to a win over Austin Poole, who hit a red light at the tree on his 1980 400 motorcycle and finished as runner up for the second time this season.
Schuyler Turner, Fostoria, Ohio bagged a win in Bear Motorsports Advanced Junior Dragsters presented by Wiseco by a combined difference of 0.009 seconds over Scott Chitty, Uniontown, Ohio.
Bear Motorsports Intermediate Junior Dragsters presented by Wiseco landed a win light in the lane of Kyle Beno, LaGrange, Ohio on a 0.009-second breakout by Wade Klun, Brunswick, Ohio.
And Allyson Downs, Mansfield, Ohio tooled the track for her first event win in Bear Motorsports Novice Junior Dragsters presented by Wiseco on a red light gift by Alexa Hurst, Norwalk, Ohio.
