Night Under FireThe Night Under Fire is full of rich tradition, from bone rattling fuel funny cars to Shockwave performing his fiery burnout show, concluding with a spectacular fire works show you can only see here!
You've gotta be here... August 15 2015!
If you haven't seen our signature $100,000 Fireworks show,
Fireworks Fire-Up Fans at Summit Motorsports Park
Among the longstanding traditions at Summit Motorsports Park are the explosive and encompassing fireworks offered as part of Cavalcade of Stars, Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, Blue Suede Cruise and Night Under Fire.
The latter event offers the most colossal conglomerate of colors, and the anticipation to experience it builds months in advance and escalates as fans file into the stands as darkness descends upon the park. Just after flames fly from the exhaust pipes of John Force’s Funny Car and the after-burners of Bob Motz’s jet-powered truck, fireworks are ignited from multiple locations for improved impact, and in red, white, blue and other colors, they dance to carefully-choreographed patriotic music that is both inspired and inspiring.
Designed to be dramatic as well as delightful, they’re known to be far grander than those of neighboring cities, and just when it appears that the last of them has been seen, heard and felt, gasbombs reverberate throughout the facility, leaving fans flabbergasted.
The nearly fifteen minute spectacle costs $100,000 to produce and leaves no wonder as to why it’s now famed and fabled.
Sixteen-time World Champion John Force returns to Summit Motorsports Park with new sponsors and a new attitude. The winningest driver in drag racing history comes to Night Under Fire each year to be part of the “experience” and the “spectacle” of the event. Night Under Fire is the only match race Force will do all year, where he is NOT racing for championship points. The pressure is off, so Force and the other drivers attend Night Under Fire to relax, have fun, hang out with the race fans and do what they love to do…go drag racing!
Unlike any major sporting event, drag racing fans can actually interact with their favorite drivers. At Night Under Fire, John Force and the other drivers can be seen mingling and socializing with fans at their pit areas, along the fence line, in the John Force Winner Circle hospitality area, the autograph session and on the drag strip after the races are over at the end of the day. Don’t leave home without your autograph books, cameras, and favorite memorabilia you want signed!
Visit with Courtney in her pit area
Dale Creasy 2 Time IHRA
It has been confirmed Courtney Force & Dale Creasy Jr both will be joining in the match race along with John Force. (Three additional names to be named with the upcoming weeks!)
In her short career in the funny car ranks, Courtney Force has already achieved more success than some of her racing peers. In just three short years, Courtney has been rookie of the year. In their first final round appearance, Courtney beat her famous dad She has earned six career wins and was the first racer to secure the 100th victory for female professional drivers which includes Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Now she has sights on becoming the first NHRA female Funny Car World Champion.
Will wow the race fans with his
three J34-48 Jet Engines!
Two-time IHRA Funny Car Champion, Illinois racer Dale Creasy Jr began racing as a bracket racer in 1976. Then joined his dad’s nitro funny car team has a crew member. In 1997, his dad transferred the driving responsibilities over to him. Within 10 years, Dale won two back-to-back IHRA Funny Car World Titles and was going for another in 2008 when he had a very serious car crash that ended his chance of a three-peat championship. Since his recovery, Dale has competed in both the National Hot Rod Association and the International Hot Rod Association and is looking forward to match racing at this year’s Night Under Fire.
Fan favorite, Jill Canuso wants to show race fans what it is like to run 300mph in a jet dragster and beat a guy in the process. Scott Holdridge is not going to interfere with her going 300mph…but he is going to attempt not to get beat by a girl!
Race fans will not only see Nitro powered funny cars but jet funny cars at this year’s Night Under Fire. The GoJo Firebird (Rich Hanna) and the Xlerator Top Secret (Ken Hall) jet funny cars from the Hanna Motorsports stable will be dueling each for more than ‘bragging rights’. Hall will be challenging Hanna for an opportunity to break one or both of his records. Rich Hanna currently holds both the track and the world speed & ET records in the jet funny car category.
TRADITIONS CANNOT BE BROKEN!
When celebrating the holidays, there are certain traditions that must occur in order for the holiday to be considered success. Watching Bob “King of Quake” Motz driving the original Jet Truck is one of those traditions at Night Under Fire that cannot be broken. Watching that beast sway back-n-forth, in time to “Phantom of the Opera”, and launching off the starting line as fireworks cascade behind him all the way to the finish line is a sight you will never soon forget!
Shockwave returns to Summit Motorsports Park, piloted by Chris Darnell in 2015!
Not the typical over the road semi, more like a hybrid between a Peterbilt and a jet plane. This truck weighs nearly 4 ton, powered by three (3) Pratt & Whitney J34-48 jet engines, boasting 36,000 horsepower, making it the worlds’ only triple engine jet truck. It will travel the quarter mile in just over 6 ½ seconds reaching speeds of 220 mph!
